Which online messenger do you use?

I was just kinda curious today. What messengers does everybody use? This isn't meant to be a "post your messenger name here" type deal. i just wanted to know what messenger was most popular and why everybody used it.

I use Kopete as my client and mainly MSN as the network. If MSN starts to lose popularity, Kopete supports good networks.

strange, amongst a HUGE portion of my friends, it's AIM...so its necessary that I have it so that I can speak with them...however I use the big three simultaneously...

i use MSN, Yahoo and Gmail......depends who i want to talk to

generally my family are on Gmail, friends on MSN and Yahoo

MSN mostly now. I do have yahoo though and used to have icq which I thought very cool.

Like the most people here,I use MSN too.And ICQ2Go,the normal version of ICQ doesn't work,so I have to use the less complete version.
But I'm more often online with MSN than with ICQ,it's just the better messenger :D

Too bad Google Talk isn't more popular. It's based on the Jabber protocol which is decentralized. This mean that you can have a jabber account with any company that offers it and everybody can talk together. Just like people with e-mail addresses @gmail.com can communicate with those with addresses @hotmail.com even though the servers are managed by different companies.

I already have a jabber account with google (in fact, it's the same as your gmail username if you are on gmail) and I use a multi-protocol client. I'm not holding my breath until more people join though.

Many years ago I used ICQ but then moved to MSN. I hardly ever use it now though...

Mainly ICQ, but I also have MSN and XMPP at hand (though the latter appears to be unavailable from campus). I have Skype as well, but have not installed the program on Win7 yet. Also, I hardly ever run it on my laptop.
The client I use for all of these is Trillian Astra, but I never used Trillian's new Astra network for actual communication, only connecting for contact list synchronization and other backend services.
