DOOM (2016)
« on: May 22, 2016, 12:30:30 pm »
Anyone else playing it? I still remember playing DOOM 1's shareware episode as a 7 or 8 year old on my crummy Windows 95 machine and it blowing my mind.

The gameplay and level design feels faithful to DOOM 1 and 2, but translated to 3D space and the verticality and platforming aspects are surprising and fun. There's plenty of secrets and Easter eggs to be found. The combat is fast and fantastic and the story is awesomely over the top and funny without getting in the way.

I'm playing on PS4 and while there's occasional weird texture pop in, it runs pretty well. Although I did fall through the game world a couple of times. Need to get into SnapMap more and start making my own levels.

DOOM, now that brings back some memories! I loved using the check codes, turning the difficulty up and going to town killing stuff all while trying to find all the secrets.

If I had a PS4, this would be a must have game.

I've got it on PC and love it. Got it through Steam for 40 bucks on one of the other code websites. However, I have to admit my thoughts are on Overwatch at the moment. When that settles back down, I'll hit up DOOM some more. I still need to check out the multiplayer on it.

I haven't played it yet (I don't have hardware powerful enough to run it), but it looks like a fun, gory time.

I'm currently playing this on PC, I'm loving it, I haven't noticed anything with the textures, have you tried the new weapon pose, that make the guns center on the screen? It make it look a little more like the older games, t's cool, but I think I prefer the way it came to be honest

Honestly I dislike Doom and was not expecting to dislike it but I just find it repetitive and boring plus obnoxiously easy .

Try the higher difficulties. Admittedly, the pace of the game starts kind of slow and eases you into things. The later levels get crazy and once it gets more vertical and you can double jump it feels fantastic.
