I'm out in the Australian bush right now, and it's ants causing me the most pain :p. Some are so huge it looks like a spider bite when they try to eat your skin. And they are unavoidable in nature, day or night. I guess they won't kill you though.

Mosquitoes are technically the deadliest animal in Australia, but only up the far North.

@JustTrent  Mossies? Really?  I have been downunder but never heard of that.  Flew up to Cairns too.

Yeah lots of mozzies. It's seasonal though.

But! I checked some facts. Turns out we have the mozzie that causes Dengue fever (and zika) up in Queensland. It kills ~22,000 people per year, but there are only a couple of cases reported in Australia (hooray!). And we don't have the mozzies responsible for malaria (which kill a ~half million people per year - eep).

And the mozzies carry Ross River fever as well. And just recently a 77 year old man from Cairns died after being bitten by a taipan snake

As an Australian, the only time I've had a fright from a snake was when I leaped off the veranda at my old place by the bush at night and the sensor light came on revealing that I was one foot either side of a black snake. Probably scared it as much as it did me but I hopped aside and it slithered off into the garden.
Spiders are the real danger. Apart from being small and hard to see, they're just about everywhere. Okay, most of them are harmless. But so many people can't tell a safe spider from a dangerous one. I've even had to tell people that a garden orb weaver won't hurt them. I don't think they even have the ability to hurt anyone but if you can't recognise a type of spider, how are you supposed to know that?

I saw a Hunstman in one of the hostels we were staying in on our trek north. THAT FUKER WAS HUGE AND FREAKED US OUT!?

Oh, dont worry, its only a Huntsman spider. It wont hurt ya m8.

I go camping every sommer, i don't like "wild" camping a lot though. Can be fun for one or two days, but generelly i prefer a nice campingplace.
