nudist resorts
« on: May 07, 2009, 12:07:03 am »
ok, so i went to Cypress Cove nudist resort this past weekend ... you know what i noticed?  no young adults.  a few families with kids & a lot of older couples ... it was packed actually.  they had sort of a singles weekend so i thought i'd check it out & it was cool.  not many singles tho.  i really loved the laid back attitude everyone had & i met some people so i didn't feel weird cause it was my 1st time there.  we spent all day by the pool & most of the night at the bar  :)  pretty nice all & all.

i guess i was wondering why?  why no young adults?  anybody have any thoughts?

The perennial question.

Hey Doug, glad to hear you had an o.k. time there. On the no young adults thing, perhaps it's just that they find it hard to find the funds and having transport to go verses staying local and hanging with mates? Is it usually well attended by the younger crowd? Are they well catered for?

Cypress Cove has this on-again, off-again thing going for it in my experience.  It was the first AANR club we travelled to, when we first moved here to Florida and the ambience is really nice.  We are not the AANR club type people but my folks still go over there on the odd weekend as they find it relaxing.  They have their kid program, usually in the summer months when schools are out, but they do not do anything for teens on an ongoing basis and while they have their singles weekends, I think it is more of a 'we have to do something' program, then an ongoing one to cultivate and educate youth.  The 20 something crowd is more the scene at the west Florida resorts but the teen and kid one is missing there too.

The AANR is a fine organisation but this is one of the root reasons my family and myself in particular now, do not really have the utmost of positive thoughts about the governing body.  They do not force their clubs to cultivate, and nourish, and program on a continuing basis, either teen, or young adult programs.  There are other issues we have as well but thats not for now.

Still, when I do go, its not a negative atmosphere club, please do not get me wrong.  It's just not what it could be.  It is situated not that far from Orlando, in central Florida and does have visitors with families who come for the zoo of Orlando and the theme parks in the summer.

Hi all

my first experience on my new nudist life was in Cypress, and I totally agree with 1st message.

I was a little bit upset about the ages of people I found, and I guesssed being close to Orlando's parks, more mid aged families would be there.

It was end on June or first week of July, and it was announced on the calendar os the resort a young weekend, but we could not see anybody younger than 45-50. I surely do not have anything againgst elderly people, but being on the 30's...you don't feel so confrotablke with people arround double your age...or several older than 70 or 75 even with hard mobility problems and going on wheelchairs.

Waiter told us that would be better to go to Tampa, I think a resort called Caliente, but I don't know if that one is closer to swinger lifestyle.

I was last summer in Croatia, and there's really good for young families with teens or kids enjoying the freedom.

Regards from Spain

Joey ... wish i did too ... kinda sucks.

thanks Toddo, it really was great just a bit on the slower side of life ... i hadn't really thought of the money thing but i guess that makes sense.  although with my TNS membership it only cost me $18 for a day, the resort side of this lifestyle can be expensive.  i think the whole hanging with older people may have some to do with it too.

I didn't mean to hit a nerve Danee  :)  i can tell from your post & involvement in the forum it's a subject you really care about.  i've always wanted a place to go to hang with other naturist people & i'm still looking.  i've found the beach to have a broader age group but it'd be nice to be able to get something to eat or drink too  lol

Cypress Cove has decided to start youth weekends again .. i guess cause i was there last weekend  XD!  let's hope for the best.

i haven't been to Caliente yet so i don't really know but i here the term "swingers" everytime the resort is mentioned, Jor3802 ... it's a shame but i probably wouldn't go cause of that.  how's Spain for naturism?

All of these posts generally agree with what I've experienced at the resorts I've been to in the US, except that I have been to a couple of resorts that had absolutely no one there under 50 or so.  But, most resorts (at least the ones I've been to) seem to have a hole in the membership between 10-12 and maybe 25-30.... It's never bothered me though.  I either help with the kids or talk to the adults.  :)

Krissy, do you mostly go with family or friends?

Nah, there is nothing that I have been to that is as cool as Sunsport. There have been some winter swims and some rustic type campgrounds. I'm more of a beach and/or hotel room kinda guy....lol
