Australian No.1 song atm features body painting
« on: August 19, 2011, 11:06:45 pm »
Gotye- Somebody That I Used To Know (feat. Kimbra)- official film clip (HD)

This song is currently No.1 in the charts in Australia, and is now one of my favourite songs of the year.  Features body painting with some great technical wizardry.  If you like Sting and Peter Gabriel, you'll get a bit of an idea of what this song sounds like.  :)

About time we had some decent music like this getting to the top instead of rubbish like LMFAO and Katy Perry and Justin Bieber.

I'm totally into this song, it is very Stingesque, that was my first thought, a good film clip to.

The music is much like Sting and Peter Gabriel.
I also see the Peter Gabriel influences in the filming of the video particularly in their use fof stop motion filming, much like Peter Gabriel used in his Sledge Hammer video

Yeah Gotye is a great band and Wally is a super nice, unassuming, very talented guy!! Love their music.

Kimbra has also put out an album now through Warner Bros music - I took a look at it, and all the photos of her in the cover have her covered in body paint.  :-)

Great news: the single has now debuted on the UK charts at No.36 this week.  Hope it'll do well over there!  :-)

I wish they stopped playing this on the radio over here. One out of two songs is his and it's not my favourite. And that's me being polite.

Well in Australia today it was Tripple J's (Australian Alternative Radio Station) number one on the Hottest 100, an annual count down on Australia day since 1989, Goyte had a couple more in and Kimbra had 3 which was a great result for her, as for the song being number one I am unsuprised, probably one of the most forgone conclusions in a while.

Gotye is from Belgium by the way. Now people still don't know where that is, but at least they'll have something to add to beer and waffles :-).

I found this remix better than the original one, too bad I did not found a HQ version:

Gotye ft Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know -(Anna Lunoe and Bag Raiders Levels Mix)

Ummmm....Gotye is the name of the band. Wally is the lead singer and songwriter. I've worked with him, he sounds very Aussie to me. Was he born there?

Wally was born in Belgium, but moved to Australia very young, like 2 or 3 years old i think.
