I studied Aikijitsu, karate, jujitsu, and Iaijitsu with the Yama Nami Bujitsu Kai for about 8 years. I recently got permission from my instructor to open my own Dojo, which to me, is a really big deal. Studied a bit of taekwondo along the way. I definitely have a special place in my heart for martial arts.

The same thing happened for me, but for music. Once my favorite music teacher got transferred, the new teacher just wasn't as good and I lost interest.

Thank you! I definitely don't consider myself a master, but I am finally at instructor level after all these years. That definitely feels good.

Haven't been actively practising muay thai for a long time, just tried to keep up mobility and strenght training.

But I would like to add a new routine this summer/fall - or a new art completely.

Muy Thai is a fantastic striking Martial art, if you're considering another, I'd recommend jujitsu/judo or Brazilian jujutsu. It's a really good idea to train in an art that teaches throws and ground grappling along with a striking art. It think it makes for a more well rounded skill set.

Jujitsu and judo are bot good options, but best practiced with a partner, I think. With Muay Thai, I can do shadow boxing and generally practice footwork by myself. Last few years there has been a group holding courses in wing chun, of which I was intrigued, but never attended - because I was waiting for a better time. I am regretting that I didn't attend when I had the chance

Definitely better to practice grappling martial arts with an instructor and training partners. One of the things I liked about Karate, especially Okinawan Karate, is the ability to practice skills by yourself on your own time. Kata can be a really useful tool for training at home.
