Martial Arts anyone?
« on: March 26, 2012, 01:27:48 am »
Hey all,  just curious as to how many people out there do martial arts and if they have done it nude.   I have done different styles my whole life and have practiced TSD with one of my friends alot in my house nude

That sounds fun, how did you get your friend to join you?  I learn Tai Chi and also from this year, Yoga, though I know yoga's not really a martial art!  Sometimes I practice Tai chi nude in my room, just by myself though.  Normally I need more space to do the full performance so I go outside.  I did once practice on the beach in just trunks and someone asked me about it in Italian (I was in Italy).  It was nice with the lapping of the waves.

I used to do Tae Kwon Do. I miss those days! Maybe when I've got more time :)

EDIT: Never done it naked, though.

I do freestyle karate and dabble in a bit of bjj. I haven never done it naked but would imagine that the constant grabbing, hitting and body rubbing would cause some skin irritation. Not to mention how I would secure a box!
I suppose it could be not nude if it was just kata or technique

I used to do TKD as a youngster, but that was before my nudest days so I have never tried it naked.  I feel that doing the practices in the nude in front of a mirror would be the same as doing yoga in the nude as it would let you, and your instructor, see how your body is moving.  As both of them are about body control, just with different reasoning behind them.

I've tried a little bit judo this year, but not naked. ;)
Anyway, I don't think that judo is well suited for being practised naked, since grabing the kimono is a crucial part of the practice!

Israeli combat pragmatism that involves techniques like "get a long hard object and hit'em in the nuts"?
Please send me a message on the forum before contacting me over IM. For best results, also mention what you want to talk about, I am not much of a smalltalker.

I am a tae kwon do player. I used to compeet for the uk and in 2007 i placeds third in the country. Shortly after that i injured my hip and had to retire ( i was 24 and getting old in compeeting terms so i took it as a sign). I am now an instructor at an accadamey in macclesfield and i teach three times a week.

Never done it naked though cos of the getting kicked in the nutts issue.
what's to say?

Are there any other martial artists here?
« Reply #14 on: October 20, 2013, 10:28:38 pm »
I was wondering if there are any other martial artists that frequent this website? I have been studying traditional Japanese budo for six years now and I'm about halfway to getting my instructor's license. Specifically, I study Aikido, Karate, Judo, Jujitsu, and Iaido. If anybody has any interest or questions about the martial arts, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer them, or at the very least, find an answer.

Also, have this:

It's me practicing an Aikido technique. (Sokumen iriminage, if you speak the language)
