The soundtrack of your life
« on: April 19, 2012, 08:25:01 pm »
This is a forum game I found on another site. While it probably is a bit inane, is is a bit more involved than simple word games, and maybe we get to know a little about what your music collection looks like. Basically, the rules are quite simple.
Take the largest one-piece collection of music you listen to you have. A CD, tape or record collection will not work, streaming sites are unlikely to succeed either, so preferrably, it should be an MP3 collection or something along those lines on your PC, phone or portable audio player. Set it to shuffle and let it pick a random song.
At the bottom of this post, you will find a list. For each item on that list, enter the song that is playing, then forward until you reach the next random song and move on. It would spoil the fun if you selected a song you deem fitting, so it is kinda important to pick the first song your shuffle spews out. I guess there could be an exception made for a randomly picked song that wound up in your collection despite you never listening to it, but if it is a song you listen to, you should pick it, even if it is as unfitting as Ode to the Joy is for a funeral song.
One request: Do not add Youtube links to every single song on your list. If you feel the need to include some, keep it down to one or two, please.
Anyway, here is the list:
  • Opening Credits:
  • Waking Up:
  • First Day At School:
  • Falling In Love:
  • Breaking Up:
  • Prom:
  • Life's Ok:
  • Mental Breakdown:
  • Driving:
  • Flashback:
  • Getting Back Together:
  • Wedding Scene:
  • Birth of Child:
  • Final Battle:
  • Death Scene:
  • Funeral Song:
  • End Credits:
  • Bloopers:
And here is my entry:
  • Opening Credits: Somebody Told Me by Strong Bad (grrr...)
  • Waking Up: Wings of Despair by Kamelot
  • First Day At School: Space Junk Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack
  • Falling In Love: Battlefield by Blind Guardian
  • Breaking Up: Found You!!, SMG soundtrack
  • Prom: Facade of Reality by Epica
  • Life's Ok: Black Realm's Majesty by Luca Turilli (wait, what?)
  • Mental Breakdown: Trial by Fire by Blind Guardian
  • Driving: Go Go Power Rangers (yay)
  • Flashback: The Fifth Extinction by Ayreon
  • Getting Back Together: Save Us by Dream Evil
  • Wedding Scene: Caprice in A Minor by Luca Turilli (umm...)
  • Birth of Child: Tornado by Rhapsody of Fire ("Now condemned to be insane / Evil born, you will drown / Swallowed by oblivion"... This is getting creepy)
  • Final Battle: Densetsu no Dai Gekisen from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger
  • Death Scene: Straight from the Heart ~ Sora's Theme from Digimon Adventure (it had to be a girl's theme, had it not? So disappointed in VLC's shuffle)
  • Funeral Song: Fish Tunnel Galaxy, SMG soundtrack again (the randomizer seems to be fond of Mario)
  • End Credits: Captured by Blind Guardian... wait, that is not a song, so I get to randomize again...
  • End Credits (for real): The Mountain from the Star Trek V soundtrack
  • Bloopers: King of the Franks by Christopher Lee as Charlemagne (again very unfitting)

Opening Credits: Autumn - Paolo Nutini
Waking Up: She Knows - Thin Lizzy
First Day At School: Growing on Me - The Darkness
Falling In Love: Saving My Face - KT Tunstall
Breaking Up: After Midnight - Eric Clapton
Prom: Streamline - Pendulum
Life's Ok: Old Before I Die - Robbie Williams
Mental Breakdown: Bamboleo - Grupo Fresca
Driving: Use The Force - Jamiroquai
Flashback: I've Fallen In Love With You - Joss Stone
Getting Back Together: Master Blaster (Jammin') - Stevie Wonder
Wedding Scene: Man in the Mirror - Michael Jackson
Birth of Child: California Soul (A.Skillz Remix)
Final Battle: Spain - Jake Shimabukuro
Death Scene: Track 12 - Melody Gardot
Funeral Song: Feelin' the Same Way - Norah Jones
End Credits: Walk of Life - Dire Straits
Bloopers: Always On My Mind - Michael Bublé

Man, they might all be jumbled up but my life would have an awesome soundtrack. It's lacking a lot of my favourite/most listened to bands, though, as I only have YouTube links for them; I don't have them on my computer.

Would that be your hand-picked list or another go through the randomizer? Because some tracks, at least from the name, seem so very very fitting.

Then I shall re-roll as well:
  • Opening Credits: Siege by Kamelot
  • Waking Up: Age of False Innocence by Blind Guardian
  • First Day At School: We Didn't Start The Flamewar by collegehumor (Billy Joel parody, obviously)
  • Falling In Love: Blue Faith from the Digimon Adventure Soundtrack.
  • Breaking Up: Bettelweib by Potentia Animi (how exquisitely fitting)
  • Prom: Wie weit können wir noch gehen sung by Tina Frank from the German Digimon Tamers album
  • Life's Ok: Kyoto's Romance by Luca Turilli's Dreamquest
  • Mental Breakdown: Strong Badia National Anthem by Strong Bad (well, crazy fits)
  • Driving: Introspective Duck in Space by Brentalfloss
  • Flashback: Flight of Torek by Aina
  • Getting Back Together: Oh Yeah Yeah by Marzipan... THIS IS UTTER CRAP! I would never listen to this, it just happens to be on the Strong Bad album. So let me re-roll please
  • Getting Back Together (second try): Another Me by Epica (not quite fitting, but at least a song I listen to).
  • Wedding Scene: Ich vermisse euch sung by Fatima Dramé from the German Digimon Adventure album
  • Birth of Child: The Dark Tower of Abyss by Rhapsody
  • Final Battle: Rites of Passage by Demons and Wizards
  • Death Scene: Herrscher by Potentia Animi (utterly fitting, as it is a song about death).
  • Funeral Song: Unholy Trinity by Epica
  • End Credits: Lifetime by Van Canto
  • Bloopers: Brave Heart from the original Digimon Adventure soundtrack fandubbed by JCTrance19 ([noembed], lyrics[/noembed])

Sounds too perfectly-matched to really be random. Maybe we should make a second topic for hand-picked selections.

Was that a purely random selection? Because the matching is so utterly perfect...

Yeah it really was!
Hence my joy at the first truly out of place one!
I think my iPad is sentient...
