Any Shakespeare fans out there?
« on: June 03, 2012, 03:35:15 am »
So, any fans of the Bard?
I'm currently reading the Henry VI/Richard III tetralogy. What about you guys?
I LOVE shakespeare!  :Butt Shake:

i'm a big fan of some of his stuff, but he's a bit hit and miss. MacBeth is one of my favourite things ever written, while Hamlet tends to go on a bit without much happening. A Midsummer Night's Dream and Othello are a couple of other favourites.

I am a huge shakespeare. My favorites are tempest and midsummer nights dream. I used to be in a local shakespeare production company that put on an anual play in the grounds of a national trust property near me (p.s national trust is an organisation that preserves historical buildings and areas of natural intrest).

Gf and I are fans of Shakespeare.  Her more than I, because her father was an English teacher and she was raised with it.  Last year we saw "Midsummer Night's Dream" at Shakespeare Tavern here in Atlanta.  My co-worker played Hippolyta in the play; which was why we knew about it.  We get there and find out that a childhood friend of mine was playing Puck, who is by far the most interesting character in the play.

During Spring Term I got to see a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier. They did a Freudian interpretation of the play that was very interesting. I had never seen it before, so it was pretty cool!

Shakespeare is the best!
I love his work and each time I happen to be in London I try to see a play in the Globe.

I'm fond of Hamlet, mostly because half of my acting career involved Hamlet knock-offs.  I was in The 15-Minute Hamlet in high school and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead in college.

Unfortunately, I think I was a pretty slow reader whenever I read anything that wasn't science or math, so I was never able to keep up with English assignments.  Thus, I mostly just know fragments of his other works.

I'm not much of an expert, but my BF has taken me to Shakespeare productions at The Globe - and other theatres - a few times now. We're going to see Taming of the Shrew next month. I've enjoyed everything I've seen so far (the last one was All's Well That Ends Well).

I've also enjoyed some film versions of Shakespeare. I really like the version of Much Ado About Nothing with Kenneth Branagh, and Shakespeare in Love is great even though it's a film about him rather than an adaptation.

I've read all the plays some years ago. I'm planning to read them again next year.
Today on this program you will hear gospel, and rhythm and blues, and jazz
All those are just labels...We know that music is music♪
