First ever Aussie FreezeFest -- nude canyoning in the middle of winter!

The gauntlet had been thrown down, and the challenge had been accepted by a handful of hardy souls — to go wet canyoning in the absolute depths of winter — and so Aussie FreezeFest was born.

Despite all the detractors (no we didn't freeze to death, yes we felt like we might on the second day!) it was an absolute blast.

Best of all we pulled off an impressive example of oneupmanship, with three of us doing Serendipity Canyon completely nude (which considering how cold the two guys in wetsuits / thermals / beanies etc were complaining of being was a pretty impressive feat!)

OMG, I don't know whether I would be brave enough to try this (mind you I have been skinnydipping in a waterfall on the Gold Coast in the middle of July back in 2005!).  But good on you guys for doing so!  :-D

Nice work Tim! I love the mountains. I'd join you, but have never canyoned so my chances of getting injured would be high.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you guys enjoyed it. The water was BLOODY cold, but it was still really fun. I sometimes think things become more fun than usual when the conditions are slightly more extreme (I was recently on a bushwalk when a short flurry of snow came down. I couldn't help but strip off and howl into the raging, icy wind).
And Toddo, there are some canyons that don't require any abseils, so it is possible to do a nude trip through one without any specialist experience or gear!
