I saw Joker last week. As a huge Batman fan I was not interested in this movie at all, but as a cinephile I wanted to go in with an open mind and forget about my Batfandom for a minute. I thought Joaquin's performance was fantastic and the cinematography was amazing, but that's about it as far as positives. The story was pointless and gave a very negative message. It lifts up a famous villain and tries to make us feel sorry for him and understand him when he's supposed to just be a psychotic agent of chaos with no rhyme or reason to his villainousactions.
Looking at it through my Batfan eyes, it was what I was expecting. It was unnecessary and did not fit with what The Joker should be. There were two scenes where I saw the real Joker but that's it. I'm really upset about this movie, and the fact that it's getting so much praise is shocking to me.
