Assassin's Creed
« on: October 14, 2012, 09:28:44 am »
Seeing as the third one is coming out, I deem this an appropriate time to post about this. I played the first Assassin's Creed a few years back when it first came out, I never got around to finishing it, and I think we gave it away or lost it or something when we moved. A few years later, as in a couple months ago, some of my friends were talking about it, so I borrowed it from one of them, continued my game where I left off, beat it, then borrowed the second one, Assassin's Creed II and beat it. Now I'm awaiting borrowing Brotherhood, then Revelations, before the third one comes out, which I will probably borrow as well. Most of you who watch TV have probably seen some sort of advertisement about it. Any thoughts?

I played the whole platform series this summer (starting with where I left off in the AC 1, which wasn't very far into the game, and including 2, Brotherhood, and Revelations). The series is phenomenal, can't wait to play the 3rd one. I think my favorite was 2 out of the series, but 3 looks like it's going to be awesome and possibly even bigger.

I have every Assassin's Creed release and will be getting III for XBox 360.  Definitely enjoyed the first one, second one, and Brotherhood.  Revelations to me felt unnecessary.  While it wasn't a bad game, I felt Ezio's story needed to be wrapped up in the previous installment.  Just seemed too dragged out.  Which is why I am excited about Assassin's Creed III because we'll have a new protagonist to the series as well as a new environment and time period.

I've played AC2 and always felt that the games were too similar to buy them all but after seeing the preview for the third, I can honestly say I cant waite. From graphics to gameplay to the time period of the story, the game looks great. I hate it though because soo many games will be coming out from now til March next Year.

Same here, I started the first one years ago, but never finished. Seeing as III was coming I finished the first, second, although have yet to finish brotherhood.

Compared to the others I found it horrible on one chase that has a lot to do with the story apparently running straight is impossible the new system in it is a huge step back tbh

Personally I am also disappointed with the gameplay, unlike all the other AC's this one is quite chunky, there isn't much of a flow in combat. The counters are useless now, almost every group of enemies has a grenadier, big guy with axe, or one of those annoying jump over your back guys. It's no longer being a ruthless killer, its about spamming X, square or whatever it is to attack on PC.

I agree with you Quentin, the gameplay is not diminished, the strategy give the gameplay a lot less "instinctive" and should give it a dimension more rich, intuitive...

I'm not saying it's any harder, just more of the spamming your attack button, and yes there is a certain way to deal with each enemy, as there should be, it's just longer now, meaning that you cant kill 4 guys and run because when you kill the 4th, a patrol hits you, even though you took care of it 2 minutes ago. There is no subtlety for more then 2 guys, just jump in and spam the buttons.
