It looks like the scriptwriter for Toy Story 3 has been given the new film to write. I can't think of anyone more experienced in giving a potentially tired franchise new life.

Did you ever consider that maybe George ruined Star Wars on purpose:

I wasn't much impressed by his Star Trek version anyway.

It's entertaining but no more.

I thought it was an entertaining sci-fi movie, but it sure didn't feel like a Star Trek movie.

Which I think is a great shame given the great reboot proposal JMS had.

I know I'll go see it, even if it's worse than Episode 1.  But I draw the line at "Ewok Adventures" and the Holiday Special.  If it's that bad, IO"ll never see another Star Wars movie.

I recently read http://www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/george-lucas-already-signed-harrison-ford-carrie-fisher-mark-hamill-for-star-wars-201383, which said that Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamil and Harrison Ford have been signed to appear in Episode VII.

Mark Hamil and Carrie Fisher have gotten rather fat... which I don't think is how their characters aged... I haven't read the books, or comics.
But I'm confused, isn't this going to be a new story, not based off of anything out there?
I think it'd be nice to go with the Darth Caedus/Jacen thing.
Not that I've read the books, but I'm aware of the story.
I don't have high hopes for Episode VII

Given JJ Abrams, it will be entertaining but shallow. It's still better then the prequels.

I'll probably won't see it in theater unless it looks visually stunning on a large screen.

And I don't care much what direction it takes, it can't turn worst than it currently is.

Billy Dee Williams has been asked to return but he hasn't agreed yet.

I'm happy they chose J. J. Abrams.  He did a great job copying Spielberg's early style in Super 8 so I'm hoping he can hew to Kershner's style.  I can't think of a better pick as far as current directors go.  Obviously, Kershner and Marquand can't do it and I don't want Lucas to direct another.  Spielberg's style has gotten too mature.  Brukheimer or Bay would be lots of explosions with no real depth.

It would also be great if they could bring back Gary Kurtz as a producer but I know that won't happen.
