...lucky you guys that live close to the slopes.Minimum I have to drive 6,30 hours (beyond the sp. limit, of course) to reach the closer and a decent snow mountain.

I got to the local ski slopes (one hour away) a couple of times before we got a warmish gale that chinooked us.  It isn't a mountain in the real sense but it used to be . . . a couple of geological ages ago . . . and the skiing was fine but it was too blessed cold to be really enjoyable.  Oh well, there is a big dump of snow forecast for today/tomorrow so I'll wait and see.

I finally got to go skiing today for the first tie this year(and since 2011!!). I missed going so much. If I could go every day I would.

I just came back last night from one week of snowboarding, Fondues Savoyardes, hot wines and tartiflettes!  :2345

I think the last time I went to the snowy mountains was like 12 years ago.. I seriously missed it and can't wait for next year! :D
My mind is happy (though a little sad it's already over) and my body is mostly unharmed  :4345
(The helmet was a good idea though ^^)

Just couple of hours of heading again for some slopes. With much snow now I just hope the wind doesn't blow all the expectation and they close the resort.

Curiosity, in US are the slopes gradients rated by colours or how do you identify them?

Generally they are rated by colors. Green being easy, Blue being Medium, Black being the hardest (within black there are 1 diamonds, 2 diamonds and 3 diamonds).

I've been to resorts that have additional colors but not clear on what those are for.

There is some great snowboarding in California and Lake Tahoe. I missed out on this season so far. I left my board in L.A. when I moved to NYC 4 months ago. ;-(

It was a pretty disappointing year. Was only able to go skiing twice due to weather, school, and work. Still had a great time and who knows, it may snow again...
