This is Important (for my American friends)

The FCC (America) is considering letting brief images of nudity be allowed on TV, but they are taking people's comments into consideration, possibly to see where the public stands. Make sure to comment and tell them you are for nudity (though they are thinking about allowing swear words as well, so feel free to comment on that also). You have to go to this site: http://apps.fcc.gov/ecfs/proceeding/view?z=f6ot8&name=13-86 . Please be aware that your name and address will have to be visible in order to submit a comment, for some reason all info is made public (I don't know why). This is something that you will have to weigh in your judgment. Also, you have to save your comment as a document (so using something like "Notepad" would be good, because it is just a basic text editor). More info can be seen here: http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/us/2013/April/FCC-Seeks-to-Loosen-Restrictions-on-Nudity-Profanity/

You can already see breif nudity on tv. I watched Rogue on the Audience channel and they showed full sex, full frontal nudity of both the guy & the girl. On FX you can see breif nudity, i.e. Sons of Anarchy. Those channels are not premium channels & they are not restricted. This might only be for the FCC to apply less restrixtions to the "local" channels such as CBS, ABC, NBC etc.

Cable channels are pay-for-content channels (you pay for your cable), and so they can show a whole lot more. Channels that are publically funded/the big national channels are more restricted by the FCC.

Update: A more informative article on the topic: http://www.snopes.com/politics/sexuality/fccban.asp . Apparently, the full ban wouldn't be lifted, but brief instances of nudity (like what happened at the Super Bowl with Janet Jackson that one year) would be tolerated and not fined.

I always found it strange that the US has the biggest porn production industry in the world but yet gets so hung up on nudity on television and things like Janet Jackson's 'Wardrobe Malfunction'. In Europe Nudity on TV is commonplace and can even be seen in Advertisements (commercials) its a funny old world sometimes.   :56789

Or that characters can't swear when someone gets his brain blown out in front of them.

I was watching something once and instead of having the "clean version" like most moves nowadays, every cuss word was replaced with clucking or something similar. I think this brought more attention to the movie than had their been swear words. Pretty ridiculous in my opinion.
