Tasmania, Aust: Nude swim gets moved upstream

Never has a politician been so keen to see an act of public nudity go ahead.
Tasmania's Museum of Old and New Art had planned for a mass nude dip in the Derwent as part of the program for next month's Dark Mofo festival. That was before Tasmania Police decided to cast their cloak over the plan, saying it would breach a number of offensive behaviour and public indecency laws, leading organisers to remove the event from the festival.


On Monday, Police Minister David O'Byrne decided it was time to speak up, assuring the skinny-dipping public that the swim was back on. Today, he announced there was in-principle support from Tasmania Police for the event to move from proposed site Nutgrove Beach to nearby Long Beach.
