Well the 2nd ranked place in tickets to World Cup is USA, just behind of Brazil. So yes, the airlines know there is a demand and people can't simply drive from US to Brazil. They are taking full advantage of it. Now regarding Brazil, they are spending a ton so they need to get it back too. The hotels and everything else are just matching the prices to what it's charged in US and Europe. People go to a concert here and pay $20 to park their car but they wanna go to a World Cup and pay $5. Unfortunately that's how capitalism works and it certainly doesn't help the real fans much, but who cares? FIFA and the corporations certainly don't.

it always happens, and it is disgraceful.

last year there was a college football game in Dublin, Notre Dame v Navy. I went to it ans it was a great day. 50,000 people, 35,000 of which were americans that travelled over.

you would think that having them come over was enough, but no, the irish had to shake them down while they were here. I live on the south coast so to go to a game in Dublin it would involve staying over. The hotel i normally stay in costs around €90 per night for the room, no breakfast, fits 2 adults. This room was €260 per night for the weekend of the game.

it makes me sick when this is done, its short termism at its worst......at €90 a night these tourists might come back, at €260 not a hope

I don't mind so much when it is someone that often has not a chance to make a profit. It just upsets me because 99.9% of the ones who do it are the very rich.

Prices are crazy in Brasil
If someone is coming to Brazil during the world cup, i belong to a hosting site www.couchsurfing.org, so I would be happy to host people for free.
If anyone interested, just send me a pm!

I have a feeling that it's going to be a lot of fun to watch this summer.
I'm thinking that one of Germany, Spain, or Brazil is going to win it all.

Today, starts the first match of the football world cup 2014.

For all members here, the know the german music scene, I have made a picture. For all other members "Cro" is a german rap musician and he wears a panda mask every time.

Back to the topic: Who win the first match Brazil or Croatia.

I think Brazil are wining.

Well, Brazil pulled it off. They won 3-1 and also scored all four goals. (Marcello had an OG at some point.)
Personally, I feel that the score should've only been 2-1. The referee gave Brazil quite the call when somebody flopped (see James, LeBron for lessons in Flopping 101) inside of the penalty box when the score was tied at 1. Of course Neymar nails the penalty, and Brazil gets a ton of momentum going, leading to another goal.

The result are don't show the match. Croatia was good, but in the offense not courageous enough.

The Matches today are:

Mexico vs. cameroon

I think Mexico will win, but I´m not sure.

Spain vs. Netherland

This is the Highlight of this matchday. I thinking it´s ending with a draw.

The last match of this day is

Chile vs. Australia

I hope Australia will win.

That was quite the match. Van Persie's first goal was a work of art, and after that, Spain just completely fell apart in the second half.

I enjoyed the game, though I was disappointed with the referee \ linesman. I can understand some errors, but I have no idea how a foul on Casillas was not called for in Holland's third goal.

Also, when will FIFA finally introduce the option to view instant replies as an aid to the referee?!

Chile vs Australia has been a close game. Australia just dont have the same quality in the final third as Chile do.
I became aware of my destiny: to belong to the critical minority as opposed to the unquestioning majority.
