A pressure group by the name of 'Legalize Nudist beaches and topless bathing in Malta' is proposing to have a number of nudist beaches in the Maltese Islands.

In a statement, the pressure group which was set up in June 2010, is arguing that all European Mediterranean countries compete to attract nudist tourists and thus Malta should be no exception as "it needs to establish itself as a competitor in this field too".

The proposed sites are at Gnejna Bay, Riviera Bay, two resorts at Bahar ic-Caghaq along the Coast Road and another two resorts in Comino.

The pressure group is saying that all areas will be secluded by buoys and walls.

Maltese law does not allow nudism in public places including beaches. As a matter of fact last year five Spanish students aged 18 and 19, were handed a one-month conditional discharge after admitting of skinny-dipping in the early hours of the morning in St Georges Bay.

FRESH CALL FOR LEGALISATION OF NUDIST BEACHES AND TOPLESS BATHING





Naturists once again called for the legalization of nudist beaches and topless sunbathing, saying that it ironic that animals have their own beaches while naturists don't.


The call comes in the wake of the government announcing a number of beaches where dogs could swim.
In a statement, the naturists said that in Malta they risk their lives to go to secluded beaches because there are no 'nudist friendly' beaches and many secluded spots currently used for unofficial nude bathing have dangerous accesses. It is not the first time that people are hurt accessing such places.
The irony and parody of the Maltese government is that it's happy to make some beaches 'dog friendly' yet it continues to deny (even after several polls indicate that many citizens support the legalization of naturist beaches) Maltese and tourists alike the option for 'nudist friendly' beaches.
