Poland: Naturism Alive and Well in Wroclaw!

Naturism has thrived in Germany for some time, but it is generally perceived to be almost non-existent on this side of the border. It might come as a surprise to some then, to learn that the naturism scene in Poland is blossoming. Set up just over a year ago, the portal naturyzm.wroclaw.pl has helped Wrocław​'s naturists to arrange nudie gatherings in saunas and remote natural areas within Wrocław​'s city limits, Lower Silesia and beyond.


For those unaware of the phenomenon for whatever reason, naturism is a cultural movement that practises and advocates social nudity in private and in public. According to the International naturist federation, naturism is "a way of life in harmony with nature, expressed through social nudity, linked to self-respect, tolerance of differing views together with respect for the environment".


That might not be everyone's cup of tea of course, but for those who are interested in getting into naturism, naturyzm.wroclaw.pl is clearly the place to go. The portal says it is "designed to help naturists and other people with similar interests in Wrocław​ and the surrounding area. Through the website, we would like to encourage the exchange of information about this common way of relaxing, making new friends and exchange experiences".


Popular Wrocław​ naturist hangouts include the aquapark and the sandy riverbank at Trestno, as well as Kamieńcu Wrocławskim, located on the outskirts of Wrocław​.


In their own article on naturism in Wroclaw, Gazeta Wrocław​ska interviewed Krystian, a practising nudist who lives in  the city. Krystian told the paper that the gatherings at the beach in Trestno can attract voyeurs equipped with binoculars, and that despite the intrusions, he no longer worries about it.
