How would you express naturism ... musically?
« on: July 19, 2013, 11:11:22 pm »
Hello ,

Sometimes it's hard to find the good words to express an idea, a feeling, etc ... And it's particularly true when it's about naturism. Besides people certainly have so various and different conceptions of naturism that it's simply just kind of indescriptible with common words!

As for me, a succession of notes or rhythms sometimes says much more than words. So what if we try to "musically express naturism"? Are there music tracks or songs that evoke you naturism (no matter for what obscure reasons )?

At that moment for me, it would be:

If music was a fashion statement, expressing naturism would be John Cage's "4:33".  It was even a hit in the UK during Christmas a few years ago.

If music was a fashion statement, expressing naturism would be John Cage's "3:27".  It was even a hit in the UK during Christmas a few years ago.

It was 4:33. :p haha

Did ya just pick a random number? :D

Got into the top 40, but they couldn't play all of it because apparently the DJ machine would have recognised the silence and would have cut in and played something else o_O.

D'ya like John Cage?

Actually I haven't got any single idea about what the lyrics mean ...
... but the intonation, the melody and rhythm sound meaningfull to me (more generally most finnish songs actually sound great to my ears)

Can't say there are any pieces of music that even express naturism to me. There are a few songs that I can relate to at the moment but none concerning naturism.

Suppose it depends on what naturism makes you feel, there are always thoughts on what it makes me feel and I'm sure there is lots of music that fits the bill to my feelings, but the feelings stem from being naked and not actually to the nakedness it self. So in my mind there is no music that can express nudity only the feelings you get from it.

Ah, and here I thought that I was on the verge of exposing an undercover Finn.

Surely naturism should be expressed musically using a tone generator?

I think that Naturism is really about learning from Nature, personal Nature, other peoples Natures, lifestyle Natures, and of course, Nature it's self. :) ^^ <3

Yeah, I know. Maybe it represents the cute yellow plush from my avatar or maybe it's because I might be some kind of "Wandervogel", I don't know. Actually I've learned a bit of Finnish for 1 or 2 years, mutta on paljon vaikea ... ja unohdin kaikki! ^^

If some of you have the courage to use such instrument to compose a naturist masterpiece, why not! ;-) But I personally don't have the appropriate skill for it, so I will just content myself with "borrowing" existing tracks and claiming "ooh, this track evokes naturism ..."

Yeah, I can't really blame you.  :cheesy: Finnish really isn't the easiest, nor one of the world languages (yet). But I appreciate the effort.
