Should live music TV shows be brought back to prime time TV again?

For those of us who remember shows like "Top of the Pops", "The Tube", "Disco", "Countdown", "American Bandstand" and "Cheggers Plays Pop" (a cross between "It's A Knockout" and "Top of the Pops"): do you think that such shows should be brought back as a reaction to all these reality music show contests that clog up the airwaves?

I like the idea of bands and solo singers who work their way up to the prime time airwaves rather than hopefuls being ripped apart by Simon Cowell and his mafia.
