I haven't posted a movie review in forever!! And after receiving a message from a forum member pointing this out to me, I figured now's a good time to post my review of Don Jon.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who also wrote and directed the film, stars as Jon, a New Jersey native who loves his family, his friends, going to church, working out, and most of all, watching porn. But watching porn every day for the past several years has caused him to develop some unrealistic expectations from the women he meets. Then, one night at the club, he meets the most beautiful woman he's ever seen (Scarlett Johansson). His ensuing relationship with her puts him on a path that will cause him to reevaluate his views on sex and what he wants out of life.

I thought this film was a very unique take on the romance genre. All the other actors give brilliant performances, especially with their Jersey accents. I also thought JGL tried some very interesting things as a director. His use of certain visual motifs create a sense of his character's routine, and none of the characters are one-dimensional. This is a perfect example of how average people can watch porn and still be well-rounded individuals. You're never quite sure where the movie's going, and the ending will probably catch you by surprise too.

I would definitely recommend checking this movie out, and I'm eagerly awaiting JGL's next outing as director.

Thank-you Muchly!

I only get out to the theatre a few times a year - once over Christmas Break and then one or two more times if there's something special I want to see but I do like to stay abreast of what's out there.
