Woman wants naked advertising removed (USA)

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Head west on Interstate 465 and it is hard to miss — a sign bearing a naked woman next to a caption that says "Don’t Drive Naked."

The sign is an advertisement for Dream Street Graphics, 6011 E. Hanna Ave. near Beech Grove.

Alaina Heiniger passes the business on her way to work every day and wants the sign removed.

“It is soft core pornography and kids see it,” Heiniger said. "I have a grandson and he is 4. He would know that (woman) is naked and I don’t want his eyes open to that kind of stuff.

"If they want to put it on their website, that is fine, but don’t put it where I can see and don’t have a choice,” Heiniger said.

The advertising company designs and installs graphics for vehicles and many small businesses take advantage of the services. John Wylie, owner of the advertising company, said a billboard on the highway costs about $3,000 to $4,000 a month. A wrap costs about the same but he said will last three to five years.

And Wiley said he is not taking his signs down.

"I am sorry that they are offended but edgy advertising is here to stay. When they are on the highway they should just look the other way," Wiley said, adding he didn't get complaints until recently. "I also have small children but they don't ask me about my advertising. They ask me about billboards regarding heaven or hell and abortion and really strong issues like that, which I don't think small children should be exposed to."

No statutes would force Wiley to remove the signs. A spokesman with the Indianapolis Department of Code Enforcement says under the city's obscenity ordinance, images must meet three requirements to be considered obscene.

"We have investigated this complaint and based on the criteria needing to be met within the city ordinance, this advertising piece is not considered obscene," Adam Baker said.

Heiniger was surprised by the city's response.

“You don’t have a choice. It is right there. It is really embarrassing to the city I feel,” she said. "Wow. That is amazing. A full private part!"

What an offensive billboard... I mean, nobody should be told to put on clothes to drive.
Please send me a message on the forum before contacting me over IM. For best results, also mention what you want to talk about, I am not much of a smalltalker.

Me to... the picture doesn't even show the girls front.  I've seen diaper commercials on TV that show as much butt at this pic does.  does she not let her kid see those. or what about tampon commercials she cover his ears for those to ?

Send Alaina to Germany for a month, then she'll realise what an idiot she's been.

In case no one bothered to look up the company...they do special wrap graphics for vehicles.  Shit looks good, too!

Can someone please explain to me how that image is 'soft core pornography' or even offensive? Apparently I'm a little slow......

She probably wouldn't like Australian Advertising Standards either - these billboards are all over the major cities of Australia

I may be nude but at least my mind is open

And here we have another person getting upset and complaining over nothing.

"I have a grandson and he is 4. He would know that (woman) is naked and I don’t want his eyes open to that kind of stuff.

So is she going to make him wear a blindfold when he bathes or is at a locker room? God forbid a child knows what nudity is. It's a shame that with a grandmother like that he will be exposed to the ridiculous notion that nudity is obscene. I'm glad the city ordinance is ignoring her overreaction though and that the billboard can stay.

I have disobeyed this billboard before though  :cheesy:

Where are the "private parts" that are supposedly on show?

That woman is obviously a bit of a moron.
