I can't stand working with Eclipse for Java

Finally someone who agrees with me!

I find the thing hideous. I'm not an IDE type person (I prefer vi and screen and the command console) but I'm not adverse to using an IDE, just Eclipse.

When someone gives me an Eclipse project I have to spend a day getting it to work on a command line.

I work mainly with Java EE, but trying to "expand" to other stuff like Ruby on Rails or... well, whatever run under my hands. If your companies are looking for a programmer let me know

I am more of a scripter. I manage a few *nix systems and I usually code in perl and some front end php/mysql. I love perl over most.

Hi, please tell me if it bothers anyone that I keep replying to 10 year old posts. But I'm wondering why open a new thread when the same topic I'm interested in already exists?

Are there any new programming fans, in the meantime?

As for me, I guess I'm not a very good programmer, but I do a lot of scripting. What I do at least works, even if I sometimes realize that it could be better structured.

My most used scripting languages are Bash, Python, PHP and JavaScript (JavaScript only when it comes to web frontends)

I work as a Software Engineer for a small company. I currently mainly do frontend but I'm transitioning more to full-stack recently. Although my skills are a bit more than that as I've done iOS development, minecraft plugin development, bit of hardware stuff and more.
