Freediving
« on: January 06, 2014, 07:24:27 pm »
Do any of you guys do freediving?

I'm looking into getting freediving fins and I can't decide if I should go with monofins or bi-fins.  Any recommendations?  I'm leaning more towards monofins because I already use my scuba fins for freediving.

It depends what sort of freediving you're doing - are you doping competitive diving or just recreational diving to look at fish or coral? If you're going competitive probably stick with the monofins. Guys like Campbell and Nitsch both use monofins in competitions.

I'm just planning on recreational diving.  Do you have any brand recommendations?

Currently I'm in Kansas so I'll be diving in pools but I'm planning on going to the Mediterranean somewhere around Italy in the summer  and I might be going to Bonaire also in the summer and Indonesia the year after. (Dive trips)

I wished I lived somewhere near the ocean.  There's no good diving spots here.  The only good visibility you will be getting is 0-12 inches depending on the day.

I'd love to dive Italy. Indonesia is good, Malaysia even better.

You could probably get some great dive gear in Italy too - there's a huge freediving community there.

Where have you dived before?  How's the diving in Australia?

What about Philippines' Tubataha reef?
