The "Atonement" OST by Dario Marianelli is simply great. When I was younger, I used to love anything by Yann Tiersen, but it gets kind of boring. One of the best non-original soundtracks is probably "Kill Bill".

If it's just scores I'd say (in no particular order) Jurassic Park, Tron Legacy, Treasure Planet, The Fellowship of the Ring, the Power Rangers movie and the majority of the Harry Potter series.

Great choices!!

Kill Bill vol. 1
Gladiator

SLC Punk

And many more.

I like very subtle soubdtracks. I think constant orchestral osts ruin a film. I dond need a character theme to tell me when a character is on screen, I can see. I dont need a musical cue to increase tension because the dialogue should be tense enough (if the music is all thats creating tension then you have failed as a writer). I also believe that silence is far more dramatic than any music can be

My favorite musical scores have been....

Inside lewyn Davis for it's use of rhythm and harmony.

Dark knight for being tense but not over powering.

Milenium actress for homaging cinema conventions.

Star trek 2009 for that sky dive/ breathing scene and

The turin horse for using nothing but the wind to create a sense of desolation.
what's to say?
