Article here.

"Tripped" is a bad translation of what happened, in the articles in French it says the mother was *tackled* with her daughter still in her arms.

Why should this even be an issue? A three year old girl doesn't even HAVE breasts!

I bet if you put the girl in a boys swimsuit nothing would be said as the lifeguard would make gender assumptions. The lack of gender equality is astounding.
what's to say?

It's unconstitutional in Canada to require women to cover their breasts when men don't have to because of gender equality.

As it should be.  One rule for all. Not different rules for different group.

Good to hear they're "protecting the children".

She wasn't just expelled - somehow she was physically injured on top of having her 3 year old rights violated and a city official has come out and said there is no such rule to support the swimming pool's position.

I am disgusted by the whole thing.

Worse, it's the kid that was hurt. Her head hit the concrete when the lifeguard tackled her mother.  SRC has a picture of the wound: http://ici.radio-canada.ca/regions/Montreal/2014/08/28/005-fillette-bikini-pateaugeoire-expulsee-outremont.shtml

According to the mother, the lifeguard said "You can't have her without a top, there will be pedos jerking off." and the mother answered "Why don't they appear to jerk off because of the boys who don't have tops either?"

That is just, simple sexism. Now a little three year old is going to be forced the thought process that her breasts are bad things, and will have a physical injury to traumatise her and really set in this mindset.

The idea that we must hide our children lest pedophiles see them is deeply wrong and disturbing. It's the same logic that used to force some women dress in burkhas by claiming that if they aren't covered men will be unable to resist raping them and it will be their (the women's) fault.

That's how the world work. They say they do so to protect the children, but it just lead to problem with their own sexuality.

A nudist world would take many people to live in peace with their body, probably.

looks to me that the lifeguard is at fault rather than the pool centre. not only did they discriminate but he assaulted a 3 year old girl.

the most concerning thing IMO is that no charges have been filed against the lifeguard
