From which author will you read every new book released?
« on: October 31, 2014, 04:00:59 am »
Mine is Jim Butcher.

I've read the whole Dresden Files series (waiting for book #16), the whole Codex Alera series (all 6 of them) and I'm waiting for his new steampunk series.

He's a pretty fast writer (two books per year).

What's yours?

For me,  I don't think this applies to anyone still writing, but I could apply it to a few dead authors, meaning that I would plan to find everything they wrote and read them. I just am not as impressed by recent novels. I might have said Michael Crichton before he died a few years ago.
Ok, I did think of one still writing that I might be able to say this about, and that is John Le Carre. He really knows what he's doing.

For me Terry Goodkind, Rick riordan, Bernard Werber, James Dashner, orson Scott card, Haruki Murakami, and Dan Brown.

@Dan I really think to read a book by Jim Butcher after seeing a summary of The Dresden Files series.

I like Bernard Werber because I think he can write great tales in a very engaging way... except when he tries his hand at psychology, he sucks at that.

Les thanatonautes is my favourite.

I refuse to contribute to make a bigot like Card any richer so I skip his books.

The Dresden files is amazing. It only gets its stride in the third book but the first two aren't bad.

For me, Jim Butcher...LOVE!

A far, far second would be George R. R. Martin....still waiting.

Other than those two and maybe Stephen King, I haven't found a really good series to follow.

@pbtoejam05

Well, you're lucky. Since he already finished writing the first story you won't have very long to wait. :-)
