Phillip Hughes (RIP)
« on: November 28, 2014, 04:06:19 am »
Here's one story I've been following since the incident.

Phillip Hughes was hit in the head with a cricket ball by opposing bowler, Sean Abbott, while at wicket. He was in a coma for some time, before passing away.

It's weird, but altough I was worried for Hughes, and hoped for his health and recovery, as well as his family, I felt worse for Sean Abbott and how he must've felt. Sean was the bowler and also a former teammate of Hughes and he delivered the fatal bowl, but was also one of the first to respond to Hughes.

Has anyone else been following this story?

This is such a tragic accident that i hope will never be repeated ever again.
Reading all the articles about Phillip Hughes outlines the kind of person he was. A friendly, smiling guy who everybody loved.
I was almost brought to tears reading these articles so i can't even begin to wonder how those who were close to him are feeling.
I also feel for Sean Abbott. It was not his fault that Hughes passed away. He was simply doing his job as a fast bowler to try and get the batsmen out. Although everyone is attempting to comfort abbott, i can only imagine what is going through his head at the moment.

RIP Phillip Hughes

Dreadful news.  I'm not a fan of cricket, but I do feel for his family and friends, and the family and friends of Sean Abbott.

If there is any light that could come out of this tragedy, it should be reviewing the way cricket balls are made.  Why not make them out of light rubber that tennis balls are?

RIP Philip.  <3
