Latest pokémon movie to be set in Quebec and Ontario

I think they are missing out by not showing the Rockies.

That said, Quebec city is said to be the prettiest city in Canada so there's that. :)

Did you notice any landmarks or how did you make the association? Because Pokémon locations are known to be based on the real world. Though the movie takes place in the Pokémon equivalent of France. Then again, they did place Barcelona (Alamos Town) in Hokkaido (Sinnoh).

As I said, they have no problem placing Barcelona in Japan, so putting Quebec into France falls under artistic liberty similarly.

I read the Wikipedia article after recognising the landmarks.

They fight on Terrasse Dufferin next to Château Frontenac and you can see Quebec's fortifications on the zoom out.

I took the bit about more Quebec (Les milles iles) and Ontario (Rideau Canal and some other place I forgot on Wikipedia).

The film's official setting will be based on Canada, with locations include the city of Ottawa, the Rideau Canal, the town of Merrickville, Skydeck Tower, the Thousand Islands of Saint Lawrence River, the city of Toronto, Quebec and the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Director Yuyama stated that it is the first time since Pokémon the Movie: Black—Victini and Reshiram and White—Victini and Zekrom that he and his crew gone in a location shoot for the film.

I guess that the "on location" is the reason that the Rockies are skipped, way too far from the rest.

But overall, I think it's a great choice of location, Canada do have gorgeous landscapes. Lots very pretty and wide areas which I think works well for large scale battles.
