I'm working my way through Gravity Falls. I'm pretty sure it's my new favourite show.
I just finished watching The Last Kingdom. It was AMAZING!! Some of the characters are fictional, but the main plot following Wessex and the Viking invasion keeps pretty close to the actual history.
I'm watching Borgia (the european series, not the completely unrelated US one). It's quite excellent! I love that it uses renaissance's fucked up logic throughout without trying to put a character that represents modern thought to be a viewer proxy. It's really well done.

Oh man it sounds great! I've got a whole slew of shows on BBC America that I love. I'm going to have to give this one a shot. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for your suggestion @Kayla
