If you want a great show where cops behave like cops behave like cops, the best I know is 19-2. Watch the original version in French (with subtitles), not the Canadian remake (they didn't get what was good about it and tried to Americanize it).

End of Watch is pretty good, but feels like a rip-off of Southland a little.

What's the story of 19-2 (either version)?

What's the story of 19-2 (either version)?

The story is the sum of the individual stories of every cop in the 19-2 precinct so there is not one unifying thread until the end of season 1.

The great thing about the show is that it doesn't tax your suspension of disbelief. If they turn on a perp's computer it's not going to be a fancy hollywood UI on it like in CSI or the canadian 19-2, it'll be plain Windows. Just like what you expect.

Lots of research was put into the show and cops find it very believable.

Season 2, episode 1 was based on the question "What is the worst thing that can happen to a cop?" and modeled on real events.

Sounds pretty good.

There's a crime show something similar from the UK called Suspects. Follows the Metropolitan Police as they investigate crimes (mostly murders), it's only partially scripted and the actors improvise much of their dialogue and actions.

19-2 is not much about murders. It's about the dramas in the lives of regular beat cops. Lots of the people they meet make you go WTF because that's actually like that in reality.

Unlike US series they aren't heros, they're just cops. With all the flaws that entails.

I just binged the third season of Orange Is The New Black, but fell asleep in the last episode, so I will have to re-watch that one.

Had a naked binge-watching party earlier for the House of Cards third season. That was a fun day.

A properly good TV show from last year was Happy Valley.

It followed a Police Sergeant as she unravelled a kidnapping conspiracy. Super dark and scary but started out almost like a twee Sunday night drama but then quickly subverted that.

I was so happy Larry was nowhere to be seen in that season!

And I start to love Doggett.

I'm giving some thought to re-watching Babylon 5. Properly brilliant. Shame the special effects haven't aged all that well.

Worth rewatching. I did more than once.

And the special effects are rather good for the time.

For the early '90's they're fantastic, I just have to remind myself when I watch. The sets are okay, and justified as the station's interior is meant to be modular.

The make-up still looks excellent.
