What do you think about this season so far?

Well that's another one over with ending weirdly @nakedisnatural wha did you make of it? Seemed rushed with Ncuti's departure

I'm in the Doctor Who space quite a bit and I found out the finale episode we saw wasn't the original ending. The original ending had 15 and Belinda dancing in a club and Susan looking over from afar as a cliffhanger. But since the Disney+ deal was (and I think still is) up in the air, Ncuti decided to leave to pursue Hollywood instead as apparently he's a rising actor and is saught after or something along those lines. I also heard that Ncuti was still deciding when The Robot Revolution aired.

The finale itself though, I believe it was the best they could have done with the lead character stepping down. While I enjoyed the Chibnall era, I think it would have been executed much worse if it was written by him. The regeneration vfx was really mid and weren't as good as 13's regeneration imo.

I have such mixed feelings about 15s era - I quite enjoyed watching most episodes at the time but im not sure I would go back and watch many of them. I've seen the stuff about the nightclub ending, and it would have been pretty cool and a better set up to the next series than what we got I think, but when you still don't know if you're getting another series and you know you definitely aren't getting one with Ncuti, I agree its the best they could of done, and still sets up an interesting era for whatever comes next.

I can't really blame Ncuti for wanting to leave with no guarantees of another series, he's not really in a position to be turning down work to wait around for Doctor Who I guess, but I hope Russell isn't just taking advantage of the fact that David/Billie/Catherine would drop everything to return, and he actually has some kind of story planned.

also unrelated to that, im currently watching White Lotus :)

blank radar

just watched tencent's three-body, which i've been told is the only good adaptation of the three-body problem - i haven't seen any of the others, and i'm still on the third book, but what i hear about the netflix version is not promising. anyhow, aside from a few sticking points, i'm satisfied. but if i hear that ringtone one more time i swear to god

We'll just have to wait and see what's next. I did read that about Susan supposedly being in the ending but given the way the story was going up to the point where Ncuti decided he was leaving I personally felt it was even more obvious as Amy being pregnant with river song so I'm glad that bit got scrapped at least.
