Apparently Dear Abby & Dear Ann Landers (twin sisters) did have some letters about skinnydipping.

Using Newspapers.com, I was able to confirm that at the very least, the first column in that article is real: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/18077808/ Couldn't confirm the others, though, but I'm willing to assume that if one is real, they're all real, at least on that specific webpage. If anyone wants to do more research, feel free.

This actually kinda only cements my hunch that the Dear Abby column posted on the previous page is fake. The fake Abby waxes poetic about how grand it is that boys can and should be nude for several sentences. The real Abby is much more short and to the point, rarely using more than a few sentences, and still provides nuance, by saying that the parents should have been consulted first or by poking at the double standard of having boys be required to swim nude but not girls. She's not militantly pro-male nudity. Again, I could be wrong, I've read a very small sampling of the archive of Dear Abby advice articles from that era, but that's what it looks like to me.
Feel free to DM me if you want to say hi!

@Octavia thank you for expressing your suspicions and deeper drive.

Interesting, my mom must have grown up in that environment, she likes showing off my brothers the way one of those articles describes

I heard that girls were even allowed to spectate the boys' swim classes during finals when parents of the boys were invited to watch them do their class. I'm not sure if this is true though.

I would not be surprised. Just read through this stuff. Unbelievable.

I wonder if any schools let 5he girls do this as well... there's usually a false negativity to females in any of these kind of regards
The boys often had female instructors as well.
This ran (for real) in September, 1970, when I was 17, before my senior year in high school.  I could well have been that 17-year-old brother; I would have been very relaxed about being nude with the adults and the girls.  Of course, by then I had been thoroughly sexualized.

Did this happen as much as she says it does? Personally I think a pool party where boys went nude and girls were in swimsuits or the other way around would be cool,

Well. when they were younger and  she visited clothed friends they would stay nude,  a few guys I've chatted with have similar experiences, sounds similar to the article
