You mean, trouble in getting the app?

app for phone , yes, but many use a computer which is always preferable.

Unfortunately the messenger service does not seem to be at the forefront of Yahoo's minds. Yahoo Messenger does not work on versions of Mac OS X after 10.9 Mavericks. I would suggest using Trillian (https://www.trillian.im) on Mac and IM+ (https://plus.im) on iPhone/iPad. Although I have moved most of my stuff over to Skype or Facebook Messenger as both work well across platforms.

Maybe it is time for INYO to upgrade to a more modern messaging system? What benefits do Yahoo still hold?

:agree
I think skype would be the easiest for everyone to migrate to, it's really popular and relatively well supported, although I have found a new one which looks intriguing... http://www.paltalk.com/ It offers everything we would need, and is cross platform as well.

Edit: Downloaded paltalk, messed around with it for a bit and I would still prefer skype

I think the most famous messaging services around there are Skype and Kik, the latter being on phone/tablet only. And I haven't seem anyone using Yahoo messenger for ages, until I got here.

We did have issues with other platforms that I won't go into here. Thus, we have tried to keep it simple.

I was just asking if anyone could help.

Yahoo.messenger app on android seems a mess. You only recieve messages well after theyve been sent and as far as adding new contacts and iniating convos goes, it just doesnt want to work.

I have been using IM+ however this app hasnt been updated in quite awhile and there seems to be compatibility issues with newer androids. Its doesnt work for group chats or photo sharing either.

None. They're all gone.

I am unsure if the people who are having issues are trying to use it with a smart phone. If it's a computer, then that is what I am asking about, as it works fine for me and many others.  Guess I should find out and tell them to use a computer if it is not compatible with smart phones. Thanks.

I used to use yahoo messenger a lot, but I always felt it was clunky and just not very user friendly in a lot of ways.  I might revisit it though.  I genuinely prefer skype but I know that's a slippery slope for obvious reasons.
