Saw 6

Has anyone been to see it? Has it carried on the series well? Or is it running out of steam?

Hasn't that happened in Saw I?

I guess that like all the other saw movies, you'll like it if you like gore porn and you won't like it if you don't.

I've seen Saw 1-5 but not 6 yet. I wouldn't call it gore porn, but it is pretty gory and a suspenseful thriller. I'd probably like it. :)  L8789 :422

I hated the first one. The acting was terrible and the story weak and unoriginal. I didn't bother watching any of the others. I don't mind blood if there's a good story behind it but if I'm going to watch a movie with a story that's just a pretense, it has to be the other kind of porn :)

THE most original horror of the last 15 years.............and one of the best twists in any movie ive ever seen

and some of the sequels are just as smart

AND they are not all Gore, yes there is some, but its mostly suspense and terror

Weak, as in previsible. And unoriginal as in done before. Watchmen did the "the saw is only strong enough to cut your legs, use it or die" in 1986. You can call most of the shots before they happen : "Of course, he's not gonna shoot him. Next he's going to run after him fall into a trap and die." Everyone in the room where I was when we watched it guessed the identity of the "corpse" in the room at the start of the movie.

And the actors sound better when dubbed. I've never seen that in any movie before.

See, I go into any film realising it's all pretend. That's the idea. And yes, it's all been done before, but it's the combination and sequence of events which is fun to watch. Sure we can all guess the ending and so on, but it's the journey and the twists and turns along the way. I found the Saw series to be excellent at the thrill, suspense, terror and gore.

and you said it was unoriginal....lol.. :786

I never saw it in movies but it's been done in cartoons. The Simpsons for instance (except that in that case, the original aren't bad but some dubs are much better).

Personally, I need a good story to get into a movie. Without it, there's no suspension of disbelief. Saw just doesn't provide that so it looks to me a cheap excuse to show gore. To each his own, I guess.

Im with Dan on this one as far as seeing the first one and then, taking a pass on the others.  I am not critiquing it, I am only saying I didn't enjoy it.   Thats all.

As luvthemgiants has said it is the most original story in 15 years. I'm hooked on the series for the story, but I don't mind the gore. every movie always has a :34 ending as there's always a major twist! I love the murder mystery element of the series

Nope, it isn't. It's like saying McDonald's food is the healthiest. And like McDonald, it's okay to like it but we shouldn't pretend it is what it isn't.

And here we get into something which is becoming boringly commonplace on this forum:

Person 1: X is incredible

Person 2: No, X is rubbish

Person 1: You're wrong, X is awesome

Person 2: No YOU'RE Wrong, it's terrible

etc, etc, etc...

That does not constitute the intelligent exchange of ideas or opinions, it's the lowest form of argument. It's really boring to have to read through tonnes of posts about that to get to someone actually saying something remotely interesting. Can we just quit it now please?

And in my opinion, SAW is a great franchise. The story writing is incredible, the detail and link backs are almost incomprehensible. SAW has introduced a brilliant villain in Jigsaw, and is very damming in its social commentary-sometimes oyu have to look beyond the gore. Writing the script must have been one hell of a process, and I'm looking forward to catching number 6 sometime soon.
On an extended IYNO break... for now.
