Australian nudist magazine ceases publication

Hi,

I got an e-mail from Marion Scriven of Australian Sun and Health magazine that their last published edition was No.36 a few months ago.  They will not be publishing it anymore in print form.

A sad day, as the magazine was Australia's longest running nudist magazine which started in 1983.  I wish Sarah Scriven well with her future life pursuits.

In this day of online publishing and forums such as this - it is increasingly improbable that magazines will continue to be viable.

This is sad to hear :(  Especially because I've just gained an interest in print media after getting sick of trying to keep my electrical devices charged for reading.  Is it known whether they'll change to a digital platform and keep producing material that way?

I don't know what is going to happen, but unless there is a movement to bring people back to hard copy print media, I think the magazine won't be revived.

Magazines are going out more and more across the board. People will look back in the near future and wonder how in the world anyone would have put up with all that paper piled up! :P But there's nothing like holding a hard copy of something! Hope it hangs on a long time! Sorry to hear about the Australian mag!

Shame,but i guess with more things going on-line now the printed media will get less and less

Unfortunately, many of the magazines have ceased production over the years. Some were made of questionable reasons (like most of Ed Lang's publications) but there have been some very good magazines.  I am trying to finish my colection of N (Nude and Natural / Clothes with the Sun) series put out by the Naturist Society in America.  It is one of the best resource for American Naturism, in the opinion.  For earlier history, Sunshine and Health / The Nudist is one of the better resources, and earliest.  Australian Sun and Health was along the same lines as Sunshine and Health, but from an Australian angle.  The Ed Lamb's Elysium magazine could be almost borderline softcover porn, from what I have seen.

I am sorry to seen Australian Sun and Health close, only so many places for good news and articles left.

Times are changing hard to say it was part of a trend with Australian naturist magazines because when Solar stopped publishing before Australian Sun and Health got established the gap was filled by the New Zealand Naturist now gonatural which it's Editor Mike Moore reminded us is now one of 12 magazines still published by a federation.  So not the first time a long established Australian naturist have disappeared. But I guess that's happened with private naturist publications it's been boom and bust with social trends in certain countries driving an increased interest in naturism driving increases in demand some was by censorship laws that had loopholes around nudism that allowed a more natural depiction of nudity than if they didn't publish as a "nudist" magazine like all those nudist movies in the 50's and 60's until the MPAA caught up with the rest of the world and replaced the Hey's Code with a classification system.
