Poll: Majority are OK with others nude sunbathingBY CINDY CARCAMO

The majority of people who responded to a statewide-poll said they support nude sunbathing at beaches that are designated for that purpose, according to a poll commissioned by the Naturist Education Foundation.
The foundation is the non-profit informational and educational adjunct to The Naturist Society, an organization that promotes clothing-optional recreation.
The same group of nudists recently lost a fight against state officials to keep San Onofre's Trail 6 a clothing-optional area.
In September, the California Department of Parks and Recreation won a legal battle to ban nudity at the 1,000-foot stretch of the beach, which had held a 30-year tradition of nudity.
"I think this poll mainly shows that the Parks Department should go ahead and designate clothing-optional beaches in California because that's what the people of the state want. The people want to have safe, legal, clothing-optional beaches," said Allen Baylis, a Huntington Beach attorney who led the fight against the nudity ban at Trail 6.
Baylis is a board director for The Naturist Education Foundation and also heads Naturists in the OC.
Ken Kramer, district superintendent of the Orange Coast District, has said providing a safe and comfortable environment for park employees, an increasing amount of criminal activity in the area and a growing number of oral complaints were the reasons for enforcing a nudity ban
The Naturist Education Foundation California Poll 2009 took place in November when 889 California adults were given an online survey.
A sampling of pollster Zogby International's online panel was invited to participate, answering six questions on Nov 6 to 9, according to the Naturist Education Foundation's Web site.
The margin of error for the entire sample is about 3.4 percent.
In the survey, 79 percent of respondents answered agree to the following question: "Do you agree or disagree that people should be able to enjoy nude sunbathing on a beach or other location that is designated for that purpose?"
Other findings:
•70 percent agreed that the government should set aside clothing-optional areas for those who enjoy nude recreation, such as nude sunbathing or swimming.
•68 percent said people have the right to be nude in their homes or on their property even if they may occasionally be visible to others.
•60 percent said they disagree to being personally offended by the non-sexual nudity of others.
•40 percent said they had been skinny dipping or nude sunbathing with others.

Not joining and supporting them, and, going to the beaches and areas they have worked hard to protect for us, is rather like being a leech. Sorry, it is.
