Models?
« on: December 31, 2009, 12:34:08 pm »
Anyone else here like to build models? I'm not a huge hardcore model building person but I do love building gundam models and lego models (shh don't tell anyone ^_^). The more pieces and the more intricate the better. I just built a perfect grade gundam model kit that took me about 13hrs and I loved it. Anyone else like to build any other types of models?

I'm surprised you guys wanted to see them. Well here are some pictures. The first picture of the internal body work I took from the net though because I didn't want to take off all the armor because it's way too much work and I honestly forgot how some of it connects ^_^

This is the actual one I mounted in my room

And here is the lego lambo

I have a large collection of plastic models i have assembled mainly WW2 jeeps, GMC Trucks, half tracks etc and the odd aircraft B17, C47 etc. For Xmas i got a 1/16 scale radio controlled M41 Walker Buldog tank that fired 6mm BBs and all turret, gun and mobility functions are electric and just like the real thing (That i have driven btw)

the two gundams I amde were not constructed like taht at all, they didn't have the inside structure, just the plastic outside, which of course led to them always falling down for having no strength at all to hold them upright.

Ah LEGO I grew up with it and still have most of my bricks. There's galleries online of pieces made by LEGO builders, some quite intricate.

One of my favorite builders: http://www.ericharshbarger.org/lego/portfolio.html
There's also Brickshelf (http://www.brickshelf.com/)

I used to do models but I don't have any digital photos of them because that was almost 20 years ago.  I did an F-15 with my Dad and a bunch of Star Trek ships myself.  I think my favorite of the Star Trek ships was set called the adversary kit which had a Romulan Warbird, Klingon Bird of Prey and Ferengi battle cruiser.  Why is it that the bad guys always have such cool ships?  I actually took the Star Trek ships (I also had several Federation ships) and hung them from my bedroom ceiling using tacks and fishing line.

Just Bumping this thread cos I love Building Models, I have done a few Airfix etc and Enjoy the Intricate Lego sets, but the real fun for me is in the Freestyle work using Balsa wood etc
when you come up with the concept design and build yourself, Boats, buildings what ever you want really, I find it very engrossing and therapeutic, anyone else tried this?

I used to have a few gundam models. Dont know what happened to them now.

I have a massive collection of lord of the rings miniatures. I used to play warhammer as a kid but now I only play lord of the rings. You have to build and paint stuff yourself. I find it very theraputic. Some of my models are bellow.

what's to say?

Yep.

Currently trying to decide on which version of TARDIS to build and trying to find accurate plans  - so not totally freestyle but not kit either.
