Content filtering
« on: February 09, 2017, 03:27:18 am »
It's a bit difficult for me lately to get access to this website due to content filtering....
Any suggestion of get away with it with minimum cost? Was thinking proxy or VPN but it don't really want to spend money on it for only one website :/

There are plenty of free VPN's out there. I use one called Hotspot Shield. Totally free. Other then that, don't use the netcafe.

Ahh, the famous OpenDNS issue. They crowdsource their filters and someone flagged us for porn due to nudity. Kind of out of reach for us, but DNS-level filtering might be avoided by using a different DNS server (check your phone's advanced network settings), such as Google's "8.8.8.8" public server. Keep in mind that those do not have intranet hostnames, so if you need to access a server only available from your local network, it gets more complicated than that.
Please send me a message on the forum before contacting me over IM. For best results, also mention what you want to talk about, I am not much of a smalltalker.

Try changing your DNS to Google or another provider that won't filter.
Here's a very specific guide on how to do that for your issue, lol:

I hope that works, if your network (university? what internet-censoring country is Australia??) is enforcing the specific OpenDNS config you can get a free VPN app you can enable with a few taps.

Yes, university policy I believe. Since I am living on campus and using campus' wi-fi. Thanks for the suggestion!

Ah okay, I reckon will search for the easy option such as VPN or proxy first and try this as an alternative way :) Thanks for the suggestion though!

Awesome! Thanks, will give it a try! I have been using hideme as a proxy server but it's really slow :/
