I like most animals that serve a purpose. Our cats keep the mice away,  our chickens provide eggs. We had a dog at one time, but all he provided was barking and piles of crap in the yard.  He was a good companion,  but caused lots of destruction.

There have been a lot of great guesses, but nobody got the right answer. Scientifically speaking, killer whales (orcas) are the Best animal!

Still, it's fun to see everyone's favorite animals, and I think a lot of the ones people said could be in the running for Second Best animal, so keep on posting your favorite animals, even if they're not empirically and objectively the Best animal :3

I'm actually agreeing that cats are the best. They're independent, agile, intelligent (mostly), loyal, caring (but not too much) and are genuinely a pleasure to be around. At parties if the people are boring I just make friends with the cat(s) of the house and have a better time.
