The subtlety of non-nudist beach goers.
« on: May 24, 2017, 02:30:49 pm »
From: http://zjuzdme.org/blog/2017/05/24/the-subtlety-of-non-nudists/

non-nudists, clothed beach-goers

Do you know it? When you’re in a clothing optional area and the non-nudists are all doing their subtle best to look at you while trying to hide their curiosity? It happened to me over the last few weeks when I was on vacation.

Canary Islands. The Canary Islands are Spanish territory and as such every beach is officially clothing optional unless signposted differently. I went out several times for a nice walk along the beach close to the hotel, down to the two RIU hotels that are located over 2km away from Corralejo and back.
Over that stretch I saw lots of nude people. Perfectly fine, as I was ‘dressed’ in the same manner. How else? Also though, lots of non-nude people were there. It was almost painful to see all their attempts to sneak looks at the naked people walking by, lying in the sand or swimming in the ocean. Painful and pathetic. Heck, no one there carries their eyes in their pocket. For me it’s okay to look as long as you don’t stare. I look at them too (although not for long, why would I?).
Nudists

Honesty Nudists

I’ve mentioned this before. Nudists and naturists are far more honest about their life than non-nudists. Nudists know what people look like. There are two genders and each one is basically laid out the same for everyone who’s a member of that gender. Some parts are bigger, smaller, rounder or longer. Who cares? We’re all human.
All different.
Also underneath all the clothing that some prefer to wear, even when it’s far too bloody hot for that. Everyone knows what a man or a woman ‘has’ beneath these fabric bits. And for some reason the non-nudists insist on remaining ‘ignorant’ and sometimes pretend to be shocked when they notice a person who’s not afraid of all that.
After several walks over that beach it was almost getting to me, so I decided to go blind regarding them.

Sick.

On one occasion I saw something that almost made my eyes fall out.
A little boy was playing in the sea, dressed in shorts and a far too wide t-shirt. He kept coming out of the water and was running over the beach. In a strong wind.
I really wondered how long it would take before that child would get sick in the wind, wearing those wet clothes.
Maybe I know nothing about this but I wouldn’t want my children (if I had any) to run around that way…

kind of agree with your post, BUT it was a clothes optional beach - which to me mean people should be free to chose to wear clothes just as much as being nude...  we have our preference and act accordingly - frankly i think you should give others the right to do the same even if you disagree with them :-)

or - choose a nude only beach

I don't mind though I'd rather they were at least overt and open about looking. I think curiosity is the first step in understanding. If they see naked people carrying on normally, it may be worth exploring.

That is a good point.  We should start preachin the word at nude beaches.  Work up some pamphlets and hand em out to anyone clothed, especially to the gawkers.  Set up a kiosk maybe.

i think that's an interesting point!  maybe many are curious but insecure so they take the opportunity to look.  after a few times the novelty wears off and they can try themselves...  it's easy for us to to underestimate the barrier that others have to deal with.  one day we will all be nude, but till then we should welcome the "clothes people" not be exclusive and push them away

Basically, I agree with you. I do have to admit that "some" people who are clothed are really WAY too disgusting!
We have a national beach in the US that was clothing optional. However, there were MANY gawkers up in the sand dunes, ruining the dunes. Finally, the courts decided that we had a right to be nude, but could not do so because the gawkers were ruining the sand dunes!!! (I never said we were logical!)
I guess we should all be born naked!
If God wanted us to be naked, s/he would have had us born this way!

It's a fine line that must be taken into consideration. On one hand, people are gawkers who should really have no reason to be there more than once.

On the other hand, there are people who are genuinely curious about the whole thing, and have to see it for themselves in order to understand it. These people are more of visible learners and I completely understand with their tactics, just don't be repeat offenders.

So yes, on a clothing optional beach I understand the amount of people who would wear clothes, I mean that is the "option". I just hope that after a day or two there they transition more into a comfortable nude stance without feeling embarrassed or uncomfortable. Simply put just have a good time!

a bit like telling the zoo-goers not to mingle or look at the animals don't you think?

as i said i believe we should invite them into our cages - and when enough have joined everyone will realized the bars have disappeared

From my experience, sometimes people need a few minutes to adjust and get the courage to take their clothes off. The first time I went to a nude beach, I had clothes on and it took me awhile to take them off. When you grow up restricted and shamed of bodies you need time to break down those barriers. I think most people are curious and if we had more nude beaches, more people would follow suit and go nude. However, there will always be "gwakers", and that is why us "nudies" need to watch out for each other on the beaches!

An interesting way of putting it lol. I know I'm kinda out there and wild but I didn't think I was that wild! I can agree with you though.

I've also been to this beach with my girlfriend and have experienced those trying to sneak a peek. One guy kept circling around to the point where I started gathering stones to throw at him! Luckily just a strong look did the trick.
