he province of Malaga counts up to seven places of naturist tradition along the coast
In Almayate is located the largest, with a length of 2,800 meters
Until the month of March there was the naturist association Malagueña-Guadalmar
The province of Malaga has seven naturist beaches along its entire coast. Seven places of nudist tradition in which to go without clothes is not an option, but an obligation. For many it is a philosophy of life, for others it is a "way of living in harmony with nature", as pointed out by the Spanish Federation of Naturism.
In the western part of the province is the majority, in particular five of them. The closest is the beach of Guadalmar, also known as San Julián, near the airport and the Golf Club of Malaga. Indeed, during last June the users of this beach denounced the reduction of space enabled for the practice of nudism, in addition to being relegated to a more distant space, without public services and with worse access.
On this matter, Anastasia González, president of the now-defunct nudist association Malagueña-Guadalmar, says that "we have been displaced without telling us anything". "Now they have moved us about 600 meters inwards, with a lousy access." In addition, "it is a shame how it is, it looks like a third world with so much garbage," notes Anastasia, whose anger is perceived from the other side of the phone as the minutes of conversation pass and remember how the beach is.
Politicians also make them angry. Especially those who call this type of places as "the beach of the guarros" and those who try to "take it away, shortening it every year more".
Benalmádena is the Benalnatura beach, located between La Viborilla and Las Yucas. This cove, about 100 meters long and about 30 meters wide, is surrounded by rocky cliffs and lush vegetation, which, together with its clean water, make it one of the best places to practice nudism. It also has showers and toilets. As well as a bar and grills for the preparation of barbecues a few meters from the beach itself.
Direction to the west, in Mijas Costa, is Playamarina. The only naturist beach in this town of Malaga is located in El Chaparral, next to El Faro. It has a length of 500 meters and is one of the quietest and most reserved points of the coast, since its access is pedestrian. As a curiosity, this area is where the arrival of General Torrijos and his men to the coast mijeña on December 2, 1831. However, one of the main attractions is its rich seabed, where you can see a large Biodiversity composed of European, Mediterranean, Atlantic and African species. As for the services available, it has rescuers and showers.
Marbella is home to one of the most beautiful naturist spots on the coast. This beach of Marbella, known as the beach of Artola-Cabopino, owes its name to a protected area next to it, called the Artola Dunes. Exactly has a length of 1,200 meters and an average width of 30 meters, being the limit of this beach the tower of Los Ladrones, built in the sixteenth century by the Arabs for their defense and declared a Cultural Interest.
However, one of the negatives of this beach is the lack of amenities. Only in the textile part can be found some facilities.
Close to Marbella, in Estepona, is the naturist beach of Arroyo Vaquero, located just eight kilometers from the town, next to the Bahia Dorada beach. It is one of the largest naturist beaches in the province, with a length of two and a half kilometers and an average width of 20 meters. Its quiet environment and moderate occupancy make this place one of the favorites for naturists, especially foreign tourists. Precisely, the one that was the first naturist complex of Spain is to few meters of this beach paradisiaca.
Likewise, it is an appropriate place for scuba diving, due to the great vegetation and fauna found in the many rocks that are sunk in its waters. As for the services of this beach, two of the most important aspects is that it has ample space for parking, as well as an adapted access to the bathing area for the disabled.
The other two naturist beaches with the coast of Malaga are in the east of the province, specifically in Almayate and Nerja. The Almayate is located in a very little urbanized area of the town of the same name, although it belongs to Vélez-Málaga, and it is the naturist beach of Malaga that has a greater extension. Its length reaches 2,800 meters and its width is 30 meters. Likewise, one of the main attractions is its nature and the virgin beach that is located next to her. Nevertheless, in spite of its extension and beauty, the beach of Almayate is very little frequented due to the few services that it offers.
It is also little frequented the beach of Cala del Pino the last of the coast of Malaga. This virgin beach hidden between orchards and cliffs is located in Nerja, in the framework of a natural couple protected between the Alberquillas and Torre del Pino. As far as its extension, hardly has 350 meters of length and 10 of width.
For its part, its clean waters and numerous rocks and underwater formations make this beach an appropriate place for diving and snorkeling. However, one of the negative aspects of Cala del Pino is the lack of facilities and services. This, together with its difficult access and the lack of buses that arrive to the place, makes that its rate of occupation is low.
With respect to this philosophy of life, Anastasia González calls the users of beaches of nudist tradition as "healthy people who respect both people and the environment." In fact, "many textile people - they call the people who come in swimsuit - enter our beaches because we are peaceful people, quiet and respectful," he adds. Something that bothers him, since he wants to respect the space delimited for nudist practice.
From the website of the Spanish Federation of Naturism provide several arguments to join the practice of nudism. Among them, they emphasize that it develops and promotes mental and physical health as well as sexual health. In addition, naturism is socially constructive and especially consistent with feminism and the struggle for women's rights.
Until the month of March of this year, the naturists of Malaga were organized and protected by the nudist association Malagueña-Guadalmar, which was presided over by Anastasia González. In spite of its short life, since the association hardly remained in operation during a year, at the moment of the disappearance counted on more 60 partners and in that period got the implantation of several showers in Guadalmar. As for his preferences, Gonzalez does not hide it and recommends the beaches of Benalnatura and Almayate. For her they are "the best", especially for the cleaning of the sand and its waters.
However, the Malaga association that has the greatest importance and history is Benalnatura, founded in 1990, although its origins go back to the 70's. It currently has more than 1,400 associates, which contribute to the improvement of the Beach of Benalnatura with an annual fee of 15 euros or 20 euros, in the case of being a family member. Regarding the purpose of this association, according to its statutes, is "to create and maintain a beach where the philosophy of nudism is practiced in its authentic and unique dimension."
At the regional level, there are several associations, although the Naturista-Nudista Association of Andalusia, known as ANNA, is part of the Spanish Federation and the International Federation of Naturism. From ANNA "promotes and promotes the development and the prestige naturist and defends the practice of naturism in public places".
Despite the high number of naturist users, in some Spanish municipalities this practice has been vetoed, as in San Pedro del Pinatar, in the province of Murcia, where from tomorrow no nudism can be made on any of its beaches, which , Some of these, have a naturist tradition since the time of the Franco dictatorship. In Mazarrón, also located in the region of Murcia, approved in early April an ordinance in which fines were set for up to 3,000 euros for those who did nudism on unauthorized beaches.
Another similar situation was experienced in the month of May in the municipality of Lorca, where the City Council approved a regulatory ordinance in which it was contemplated to fine those who did nudism in any of its 13 beaches. However, after a week full of controversy and disagreement shown by various groups, the City Council reversed its measure and allowed nudism.
