Star Wars: The Last Jedi
« on: March 27, 2018, 12:34:49 am »
I'm surprised that no one has been discussing the most recent installment of Star Wars. What did you guys think of The Last Jedi?

In an attempt to avoid a long, nerdy dissertation, I'll summarize my thoughts by saying:   I loathed it.

There was too much Disney thrown into the mix.

Thought it was pretty good , but as you said , there w'ere too many plot twists that didn't fit in.
Johnson will be making a new Trilogy of his own and I'm going to watch it :).
But I still hope Abrams will correct the mistakes in Episode 9 :) .

I really liked it. My brother and my dad are big Star Wars fans and I have seen all the other films but nowhere near as many times as they have. I get that people wanted Luke to come back and be really cool but I liked that he had problems and it made him more realistic. Rey was great and BB8 was brilliant in it. I have heard some people didn't like it but all the people I have met in real life seemed to like it, even my dad who was around when the old ones came out.

As a film it was made very good, but as a sequence of Star Wars it was really cruel. I missed the sympathie and the characterof the dramatis personae which was typical for the star wars movies. Yes, maybe the persons may seem more realistic, but the brake with the old dramatis personae was too hard. In my mind it would be better if they or would have created completly new dramatis personae or they would have kept the dramatis personae like in the older movies.
Naturism and being naked are a human`s rights and a human`s nature.

I liked The Last Jedi. Some of the plot twists were a bit like WTF. But in all it's a good movie. I think the movie was more about the balance of The Force than other things.

I really didn’t like the film. I could write a stupidly long essay about its faults, but it basically boils down to hating the entirety of the Finn/Rose plot, not particularly caring about Rey, and especially the poor use of subversion. The film went against expectations just to go against expectation, even if it meant harming or going against characters. For example: I expected to go in liking the movie, but it went against my expectations and I ended up hating it! The special effects and visuals were nice, and the soundtrack was once again great, but it can’t salvage the rest of it for me.

I'm typically not a huge critic of movies.   If I'm entertained for several hours then it was a good experience for me.   While I understand the critique about the plot twists in the larger scope of the Star Wars canon, I was very much entertained and therefore I came out of the theater glad that I went.   I think it will be interesting to see how and if the next Star Wars movies develop the plot twists or just leave them as they are.....   I'll be going to the next Star Wars movie.

When I went to see it, it wasn't my choice but I went along with the group. By the end of the movie I admit I really enjoyed it

I'll start this comment off by saying I was never a huge fan of Star Wars to begin with. Not that I hated them, I actually really enjoyed the original trilogy, but I wouldn't call myself a "fan." Liked them but didn't love them. However, after seeing The Force Awakens I got hooked! Even though it was basically the exact same plot as A New Hope, I absolutely loved it and could not wait to see The Last Jedi. Then when I saw it, I immediately became neutral on the franchise again lol
There were parts of The Last Jedi that I thoroughly enjoyed but overall it was a mess of a movie. I hope JJ brings some greatness back to the franchise with Episode 9, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. We'll just have to wait and see.
