Private message limit, explanations ?

Hey !
I've recently noticed while chatting that there is a PM limit (20/hour) but strangely enough, I waited only 10 mins and it went back to normal ...
Can someone explain me how it works ?

I would guess it looks at the 20 last messages you sent. If all of them were in the past hour, it blocks further messages. If only 19 were in the last hour, you can send one message again.

That’s due to you being new to the forums. When you have made yourself known for the most part and been active, further permissions and access’s, like sending private messages, will be given to you.

I don't know about the forums here. But when I use to run a website that had them it was to help to prevent spammers. A spam bot can get in there and quickly flood the pm section with a bunch of bogus junk. At best, it's really annoying. At worse, it can cause crashes to the server.
