my main instruments are Bass guitar and the clarinet. I got up to grade 7 in the Clarinet and i was luck enough to play with the BBC philharmonic a few years ago, we played mendelssohn's hebrides overture.
I also play the ukulele, banjo, saxaphone and piano (badly).

awesome set of instruments, and congrats on playing with the philharmonic!

What sort of music do you play on the sax? (and which sax? I play alto, grade 5 when I stopped doing lessons 3 years ago)

When I was a child had begun playing the guitar, but then had priority to school. And now I have no time for that.

I have again started to learn to play guitar. Wish me luck.  :66342

I play a Tanglewood Rebel 4K bass guitar in my punk band Follow Through

She was missing bottom string when I bought her but I soon fixed that

I've been playing drums for 5 years now, and I've self-taught myself. I've had basically the same kit for the whole time but I've customised it to make it a lot better than what it was

This is what I originally got but only in silver:

But I've replaced the cymbals, which frankly you could have snapped in half easily :345678
I've now added:
14" Stagg Crash
16" Headliner Pro Crash
20" Headliner Pro Ride
10" Stagg Splash
14" Stagg China

And I'm hoping to get some Remo skins for Christmas :)

Holy crap! This is 1 day short of the 1 year anniversary of my last post, on page 1!

So... turns out I really was going through a creative crisis. And it turns out that I really needed to get back into it, and specifically into chamber music.

In autumn I got to play a little solo in a concert; I rejoined a uni orchestra; in December I was a prostitute (played for money at hokey Christmas cash-ins); played serious Bach cantatas in a special event (accompanying recitatives with only a cembalo to back you up = scarier than any solo); and now, I am finally catching up with every teenager's dream: a few friends and I have founded a cello quartet to play some Apocalyptica stuff. My current favourite:

Apocalyptica - Bittersweet live, from their life burns DVD

though this one rocks quite hard:

Apocalyptica - Creeping Death

Can't wait to get it up to similar (speed) levels!!

I feel like I've progressed in leaps and bounds recently. Sadly, the sureness of my left hand is still not what I'd like it to be; but mastery over tone quality has quickly risen to old levels and - as I spend more time on the instrument than ever before - quickly surpassed them.

The times may not be good - but this certainly is!

edit: oops about the double post of Bittersweet. Fixed now!

Hey that's great news Jym! Hope it continues to go well for you. I wonder what the second clip was meant to be, as they both appear to be the same song?

I have, or have access to, a range of musical instruments -- piano, guitar, Appalachian dulcimer, metal Irish flute, bodhran -- and I play them all equally well, which is not saying much I'm sorry to report.  It is said that "an moron can play a bodhran" (1) but it seems I am the exception to the rule.  I like the dulcimer best because it is very portable and works well with bagpipes.  I love the sound of pipes by the way -- genetic inheritance I suppose -- and tried to learn to play them for a couple of years.  But I gave it up after being asked (begged!) to stop. (2)  I can sing though, or I think I can.  At least no one ever begs me to stop.

Notes:
1. for non-Celts: that rhymes nicely enough
2. definition of a Scottish gentleman -- a Scotsman who can play the bagpipes, but doesn't

In the last few weeks, I've been teaching myself guitar :D just leaner some basic chords and a few songs, but hoping to get proper lessons very soon :)

And I also love the guitar I bought: an Electro Acoustic Yamaha APX500 :63424

I taught myself harmonica with a few helpful hints here and there, mostly from Youtube, and I'm learning the highland bagpipe. I also play a small amount of 5 string banjo and Irish penny whistle. Hoping to play small harp/lyre one day, as well as bodhran.

I have been playing guitar since I was 12 and electric since 16. The guitar I have is a Gibson Epiphone Flying V copy.
