Eric Satie
« on: July 25, 2019, 12:38:02 am »
I was playing gymnopedie by Eric Satie on piano today and there’s a note in the music that translates the name to Spartan dance of naked youths and men. Thought it was interesting.

The prefix "gym" comes from the greek "Gymno" which means uncovered or nude.  The name "gymnasium" originated to describe a communal place where you were expected to exercise naked.

That's fascinating. Now the nudist in the gym locker room is a character.
