To me, it was the best, in all ways and I loved the writers for doing it this way.

I thought after this seasons (by LOST standards) clumsy writing, it was beautifully ended over the last 4 episodes. Perfect way to end it with everyone back together again, and the Pilot-eye was brilliant.
On an extended IYNO break... for now.

Danee, I completely agree! I had a tear and smile at the same time. I couldn't imagine the finale any other way now.

Major spoiler below, so don't read if you haven't watched the finale yet.

So they all created (in their minds?) a parallel universe for them to be together again after they all died?

not as i see it.

Jean-Paul Satre wrote that "Hell is other people".  Lost has it that, conversely, Heaven is the people who really matter to you.

The "meeting up eventually after they all die" aspect of the ending addresses the concept of an afterlife from a non-denominational perspective (the windows in the "church" they all meet at display symbols and images from many different religions).  Rather than clouds and angels, Lost says that when you die, you are rewarded by being reunited with the people you have lost (the final meaning of the title) along the way.

The adventures the characters went through in this version of reality were symbolic of the jouneys their souls had to undertake to be able to reach the point where they we re ready to be reunited and enter "heaven" at peace with themselves and one another.

The "heaven" aspect of the ending was,i thought, a great way to reward the characters and the fans with the reassurance that, in the end, they are reunited, and i think it was included primarily for that reason.  the plot concluded with the events on the island - which really happened, it wasn't a dream or a parallel reality or anything like that.  the "heaven" ending was like an afterword.

i was a huge fan of the show and loved the ending.

That is it exactly.  Jack was told, 'some died before you, some long after you..' in the church by his Dad.  Ben, stayed outside the church and the thinking was....he was not ready to 'go forward'.  He had been pretty evil during his life and it 'wasn't his time' to move on.

Here is a wonderfully written blog by a writer who traveled the entire 6 years of the amazing show. Take the time to read it carefully.

There is more, on this site. and post number 23 continues that. It was written by someone who worked for Bad Robot.

His last line, after all these years....

As for you, Lost. I've only got one thing left to say. See you in another life, brotha.

I am still in mourning...

I liked the ending too. It fits well for what the show was all about.

But I have several issues with the sixth season. Many good characters didn't get the deserved attention (like Sayid, who spent most of it acting like a zombie), plots that lead to nowhere (like the "Temple" and all those hippies and that japanese guys, who was killed and no one cared about), and Jacob was a really boring guy - thanks to Mark Pellegrino, with a poor acting in my opinion.
A nova geração.

I think they just ran out of enough time to fully explore all of the many major and quasi-major characters.

:)

I heard that the DVD of this last season will have a half hour of Abrams, Cuse, and Lindeloff answering some unanswered questions about the series and things that they left unfinished. Not sure if that's true though.
