Corona Quarantine Reading Thread
« on: March 23, 2020, 10:05:42 pm »
Hi guys,

Decided to start a thread of long(ish) books or series in order to kill a lot of time during the next months.

I will start by suggesting 3 series that I've read over the years and I loved:

- Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa

- The Grail Trilogy by Bernard Cornwell

- The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson

I suppose they are all a bit similar in style but I guess thats what I like the most  :happy

And a more serious one:

Good Economics for Hard Times by Banerjee and Duflo (won the last Nobel prize in Economics)

Please post your suggestions as I will have a lot of time to read  :laughing

I've quite enjoyed The Night Watch series by Sergei Lukyanenko. Its a Russian series translated into English. Great series for anyone who loves fantasy in a modern setting. Unfortunately, it is a bit misogenistic, which I dislike about it, but it's a really well written series.

In terms of legit books, Roald Dahl has always been my go-to. Otherwise, I began scouring the Archive of Our Own and fanfiction.net for interesting fan fiction and came across Full Moon High by Stone-Man85 and a spin-off which is much more interesting for you lot, Full Moon Scales by markzilla6895. I'm currently considering adapting one or both into screenplay format as a side-project to my own fanfic writing, which I may also give the same treatment.

Just finished Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grant. Can’t wait for the movie adaptation next year!

Is one of them available in PDF? Thank you very much for your suggestions.
I'm currently a college student, looking for reaching my goals as soon as possible, as well as trying to make some new friends! :D

i just finished reading liu cixin's "wandering earth" sci-fi short story collection. it's incredibly thought-provoking, but when you connect the dots of subliminal messaging to liu's real life beliefs and affiliations, it gets pretty uncomfortable
