Corona Quarantine Reading Thread

(1/2) > >>

Dree:
Hi guys,

Decided to start a thread of long(ish) books or series in order to kill a lot of time during the next months.

I will start by suggesting 3 series that I've read over the years and I loved:

- Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa

- The Grail Trilogy by Bernard Cornwell

- The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson

I suppose they are all a bit similar in style but I guess thats what I like the most  :happy

And a more serious one:

Good Economics for Hard Times by Banerjee and Duflo (won the last Nobel prize in Economics)

Please post your suggestions as I will have a lot of time to read  :laughing

I've quite enjoyed The Night Watch series by Sergei Lukyanenko. Its a Russian series translated into English. Great series for anyone who loves fantasy in a modern setting. Unfortunately, it is a bit misogenistic, which I dislike about it, but it's a really well written series.

Longingtobenude:
Now is a perfect time to read The Stand by Stephen King  :happy

In terms of legit books, Roald Dahl has always been my go-to. Otherwise, I began scouring the Archive of Our Own and fanfiction.net for interesting fan fiction and came across Full Moon High by Stone-Man85 and a spin-off which is much more interesting for you lot, Full Moon Scales by markzilla6895. I'm currently considering adapting one or both into screenplay format as a side-project to my own fanfic writing, which I may also give the same treatment.

hillydilly:
Just finished Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grant. Can’t wait for the movie adaptation next year!
